Assassin's Creed film's next publicity stunt is an actual stunt

Channel 4 to take a leap of faith - live.

The Assassin's Creed film's next publicity stunt involves an actual stunt: a 100 foot freefall to be exact.

Don't try this at home.

To be performed on Channel 4 this Sunday, 18th December at 9.10pm UK time, stuntman Dave Grant will make television history by starring in the world's first live TV ad, which just so happens to feature a very dangerous stunt.

Grant will mimic the Assassin's Creed series' trademark "leap of faith" maneuver of harmlessly plummeting several stories into a giant bale of hay. (Granted the actual stunt won't use hay, one would hope.)

This isn't the Assassin's Creed movie's first stunt-related promotion as back in August one of the film's stunt doubles, Damien Walters, performed a 125 foot jump - the biggest freefall in the last 35 years of cinema.

While 100ft isn't quite as impressive as 125ft, it's still extremely dangerous. Ubisoft is really pushing that angle though, as it often boasts about how little it wants to rely on CGI for the upcoming film.

"The action sequences in the movie are shot in geographical locations with real people, with very little CGI or special effects," Assassin's Creed star Michael Fassbender explained.

That sounds like a lot of attention to detail for a series that's set primarily in a simulated universe. Still, authentic movie magic does make a difference to the trained eye and one has to respect the stunt doubles' commitment to the bit.

The Assassin's Creed film will be out in theaters on 1st January in the UK and 21st December in the US.
