Super Mario Odyssey - A Traditional Festival

How to complete the Metro Kingdom objective.

A Traditional Festival is an objective you'll encounter about halfway through Super Mario Odyssey, which follows on from Super Mario Odyssey - Powering Up the Station and Powering Up the Power Plant.

You'll find our full walkthrough for it here, whilst you can head back to our main Super Mario Odyssey guide, walkthrough and tips hub for plenty more on all aspects of the game!

A Traditional Festival

Enter the Warp Pipe ahead of you to enter a city-wide 2D section. Jump up through the Warp Pipe ahead of you to enter another section. Jump across to the platform to your right, and avoid the burning barrels that roll down towards you. Reach the other side as the building turns to enter the Warp Pipe.

In this new section, wait for a gap in the barrels that are falling above where you start to reach the floating platform. Move through the Warp Pipe to another bit with a ramp above you. This ramp will actually invert gravity so just follow it up and enter the upside-down Warp Pipe.

Beginning on the ceiling, jump over the two burning oil barrels and avoid the barrels balling upwards. Reach the other side, and enter the Warp Pipe. Now walk on the ceiling, then jump off at the end to ride up, collecting coins as you go.

When you land, head through the Warp Pipe. You'll now warp to a classic Donkey Kong section, where you'll need to climb the levels while avoiding the rolling barrels.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

Move to the far right, leaping over the barrels, then hide the the ? Blocks. Then leap up, passing the DK sign made of coins, moving left and up on the small platform. Jump onto the next one, move right, then jump onto the next platform, avoiding the barrels that roll onto it.

Traverse the final level, run under DK and jump up into all four of the ? Blocks to defeat him. Use the Warp Pipe above.

Run through the crowd and speak to Mayor Pauline to receive your prize - a Multi Moon! You'll need a total of 20 Moons to reach the next kingdom, so use our Power Moons Guide to meet the minimum quota. When you're ready, throw Capy at the globe on the Odyssey to power the ship up.
