The Last of Us Part 2 - Capitol Hill: All items and how to explore every area

How to complete the Capitol Hill area and find everything along the way.

Capitol Hill follows on from The Last of Us Part 2's Eastbrook Elementary area.

Beginning as soon as you leap down from the flats following Eastbrook Elementary, this is a deceptively long chapter as you explore the suburbs and shops of Seattle.

You can expect plenty of combat encounters and collectibles along the way - which are outlined on this page - so keep your eyes peeled.

Capitol Hill's apartments and Capitol Inn

Once you have dropped down from the block of flats, head down the road and take the first right you can, through the side of some apartments.

Take the next right to come to apartment number three, the one with an open door.

There are supplies in here, as well as a Kinnard, Esq. Trading Card in a drawer next to the sofas.

From here, take a left at the outdoor barbecue.

There is a swimming pool at the end, but before that, a door to another apartment - number six - to the right.

There is a runner upstairs, and the Chevy's Apology Artefact on the bed in the room to the right.

Now proceed past the swimming pool to a Capitol Inn.

There are a bunch of rooms you can explore for crafting items. You can go down the left to a back alley and climb through the window with the blue material poking out.

Inside, next to an upturned bin, is the Rockafella Trading Card.

Before you leave, on the right side is a balcony with an apartment just out of reach.

To get inside, grab the dumpster and position it underneath. It's a bit awkward to move - you might have to bring it back and to the side a few times - then climb up.

Inside are crafting supplies, and the Raul's Olive Branch Artefact in a drawer next to the fridge.

Don't forget to check the bed, too, for a Trap Mine Recipe.

When you're ready, head up to the second floor of the motel and leap off the back.

Nancy's, gas station, bookstore and bagel shop in Capitol Hill explored

This is a semi-open area that can be confusing to follow, but the broad aim is face left and go in that direction.

At the end of this particular is Nancy's gift shop, and just before it on the corner, a dry cleaners. The dry cleaners will have several enemies - there's nothing of note to loot here, so you are free to not engage if you want to press on.

Take a left at Nancy's to a gas station on your left at the end.

If you hug the left wall, you can enter the garage section for a Workbench.

There are more armed enemies elsewhere in the gas station - though there are no collectables, there are supplements and crafting materials to find, so explore it if you wish.

Opposite the gas station on the corner is a bookstore. There are several infected in the backroom here, so open it up and clear out when ready.

Once done, you can grab the Rebecca's Tip Off Artefact in the kitchen part of the bookstore.

There's also the Last Round Training Manual in the opposite side of the room (for us, this unlocked the Stealth Upgrade Branch).

You can also find the Doctor Stem Trading Card in the backroom where you found the infected.

Proceed down this road past the Bookstore to an overgrown checkpoint gate, which you cannot enter from here. You need to go around another way.

To get in, go back up the road a little, alongside the basketball court, and drop down left to the shops, where there's a bagel shop to the left.

You can explore around here ammo and crafting supplies, though beware there are plenty of enemies along the way.

The only thing we would recommend is take a hard right, crawling underneath the partly open garage door, and work your way through the infected to the right corridor.

Inspect the end locker for a Sergeant Frost Trading Card.

To continue, go through the bagel shop, go up to the above floor (the stairs are to the left as you go on - just watch out for the two guards which come down) then drop through the wall at the far end.

You are now on the other side of the checkpoint gate.

How to get past Capitol Hill's explosive traps

To progress, press the button prompt on the roof of the processing booth. You'll now be that little bit closer to the TV station.

Continue on and you'll come to an area with explosive traps. There are two directly ahead which you can lure the infected beyond into.

Before going through the gate, go left into the store. There are no explosive traps in here. You can get the Candelabra Trading Card inside, in the corner next to the ATM.

Go through the gate where the infected were, then right through a gate, to a slope with water running down.

Before you climb down, go right up the ladder into the tower, to find various supplies and a Tower Doodles Artefact.

Go down the slope, over the other side of the ravine, and along the left side of the collapsed freeway.

Check the back of the truck to your right for Raul's Account Artefact and some supplies.

Continue past the corpses and the dead horse, sticking to the left of the bank to arrive at another area with explosive traps, and two stores opposite one another.

You will be able to safely navigate your way through them without detonating, just go slow and take your time.

Enter the martial arts store to the right - you can throw a brick or bottle either through the glass or the explosive trap covering the two smashed windows to the right.

There are no explosive traps inside, so explore freely. In the back there is a notice board with a Fran's Refusal Artefact pinned up.

There is also a Workbench down the corridor.

Go opposite now to the Wellwishes store.

There is a Bizarrebra Trading Card on left shelf.

Go through the back door, and check the notice board on the right for a Thrift Store Reminder Artefact.

You'll learn about the next safe code - which is the last six digit of a phone number. The one featured is incomplete - it's missing two digits - so enter the right door here for the number on the wall. It adds a 33 - making the safe code 55-01-33.

Go through the other door. There is a Clicker crawling here, so take it out and approach the safe.

Enter safe code 55-01-33 for various supplies.

Once you have searched both stores, head down the explosive trap-laden road through the vehicles.

Most have a way of passing them safely - climbing over a truck, opening the back, crawling under - but when you reach the blue van, you must learn to throw bricks or bottles at them to detonate them.

After the blue van, to pass the two on the stairs, at the back of the van you can climb up and approach the stairs from below. There are bricks and bottles here if you need them.

Climb round the final gate and over to reach the TV station.

This now begins the Channel 13 TV Station chapter.
