Temple Run 2 is out today for free

After the first one was downloaded over 170 million times.

The sequel to wildly popular free-running iOS game Temple Run is heading to the App Store today. In fact, it's already up in New Zealand where it's free (thanks, TouchArcade).

Developed by Imangi Studios, Temple Run was our first ever App of the Day. It later went on to be downloaded over 170 million times (which I like to think is due to our recommendation).

Unlike Temple Run: Brave, this is not merely a reskinned version of the existing game, but rather a fully fledged sequel with much improved graphics and animation, as well as new gameplay features like ziplines and mine carts.

See it in action in the gameplay footage below.
