Starbound developer firing up second game project

Possibly a "top-down open world multiplayer pirate game".

Starbound developer Chucklefish has announced plans for a second project with a new team at the studio.

Chucklefish is still finalising ideas for the game, but has said in a new blog post that the "one that keeps popping up is a top-down, open world, multiplayer pirate game".

Development on the project will begin shortly (and the team will soon be hiring if you're interested) but the studio has already reassured fans that progress on Starbound, its in-beta indie hit, won't be delayed.

"This won't slow down the production of Starbound at all, worry not," designer Finn "Tiy" Brice wrote. "I will be assisting in the design but we'll be working with entirely new developers."

Chucklefish is due to move into a permanent London office within the next month as development gathers pace.

Why should you pay attention to Starbound, you ask? Eurogamer's Chris Donlan and Ian Higton answer that very question in the video below.
