Spike Lee to direct NBA 2K16 career mode

Shooting hoops.

Oldboy and 25th Hour director Spike Lee is working on the story for NBA 2K16's MyCareer mode.

Lee - a fan of the New York Knicks - is writing, directing and co-producing the mode, which publisher 2K has said will elevate the game's story "from both a visual and narrative perspective".

PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of the sports simulation are due to arrive on 29th September 2015.

"Partnering with legendary 2K and [NBA 2K16 developer] Visual Concepts is one of the most unique challenges I've had in filmmaking, and allows me to push the boundaries of innovative storytelling," Lee commented.

"My hope is fans will feel even more connected to the world of basketball in NBA 2K16."
