Sony mulls over Store for PSP
Along with Mac support, more.
Sony is "definitely" looking at getting the PSP Store working on actual PSPs rather than asking users to access it via PC.
That's according to PlayStation director of network operations Eric Lempel, who was asked about it by MTV.
"Clearly that's something we're thinking about," he said. "It's just a matter of priorities and some technology that we need to make it all work right and make sure the content is delivered securely, just to protect some of our [intellectual properties]."
Lempel also revealed that Sony is hoping to accelerate the introduction of new PSone content in future, that an iTunes-style synchronisation feature (for automatically getting new videos and demos) is being looked at, and that Mac support is being worked on in Japan.
UMD titles have been released as downloadables on the PSP Store already, with B-Boy and Fired Up on offer in the UK. Content varies from region to region, though, so when Lempel points out that SOCOM Fire Team Bravo and Twisted Metal: Head On will be released "in the next few weeks" he's undoubtedly addressing the US branch of the Store specifically.
He also reiterated what Sony's David Reeves told us in August; that Sony is looking at PS3 Store games - like flOw and Everyday Shooter - in terms of how they might transition to PSP as downloadable content.
