Silent Hill 2 movie "stalled"

Director recently released from prison.

The release of movie Silent Hill 2 is up in the air after the writer/director spent time in prison.

Silent Hill 2 is "a little stalled now because of [writer/director] Roger Avary's [legal problems], so a little unsure yet," horror film producer Don Carmody told Fangoria (thanks, Joystiq).

Oscar-winning screenwriter Avary spent time behind bars for vehicular manslaughter following a fatal 2008 car accident.

Carmody continued: "The original plan was Roger writing and polishing the screenplay, and when he had finished his thing, we'd begin full-blown preproduction.

"I'm not sure what's going on with that. We know we want to make Silent Hill 2 and have a basic outline for it. We'll have to see."

Apparently, Avary was recently released from the slammer.

At E3 2010 Konami showed the first footage of the next Silent Hill game, due out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. It's being developed by Czech studio Vatra Games.
