SEGA reveals Aliens vs. Predator game

By original series dev, out next year.

SEGA and Twentieth Century Fox have unveiled a brand new Alien vs. Predator game for release next year.

There's no set title, no set platforms and no gameplay details. But, excitingly, we do know Rebellion will develop. And that same studio made the very first Aliens vs. Predator game all those years ago.

"The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us. It represents a fantastic addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of gaming's most cherished iconic titles," said SEGA West boss Naoya Tsurumi.

SEGA now has three Aliens games in development: Aliens: Colonial Marines by Gearbox, Aliens RPG (working title) by Obsidian, and Aliens vs. Predator by Rebellion.

The latter will be the first of the trio to appear. That means Aliens: Colonial Marines, which had been on the SEGA schedule for early this year, will be pushed way, way back.

Incidentally, we've not heard anything on the Obsidian Aliens RPG since 2006. But then Obsidian is currently hard at work on spy RPG Alpha Protocol for SEGA.

Rebellion is making Shellshock 2: Blood Trails for Eidos, which launches on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 this Friday. Look out for our review soon.

The last Aliens vs. Predator game by Rebellion was Requiem for PSP, which was, unfortunately, dreadful.

Fingers crossed.
