Rush Hour director to do game films

Has big plans to hook up with Activision.

Rush Hour 3 director Brett Ratner has said he will start making films based on Activision games.

He was speaking after his Guitar Hero III ads aired during breaks between the American Idol finale last Wednesday, showing contestants from the show dancing around the living room in their pants like Tom Cruise did in the 1983 film Risky Business.

"The games business is much more exciting than the movie business right now," Ratner told Variety. "I will be doing movies that come from videogames."

Ratner went on to reveal that his relationship with the Guitar Hero publisher meant he now has "access to the Activision brain" and the people who create its games.

Brett Ratner directed all three Rush Hour films as well as the third X-Men movie and Red Dragon.

His interest in videogame licenses comes just weeks after Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski said he would be at the helm of a BioShock film.
