Ron Gilbert reveals Double Fine collaboration character art

"It's a game that needed to be made."

Ron Gilbert has revealed character art for his new game.

Gilbert, one of the creators of cult classic point and click adventures Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island, is making the unnamed game with fellow former LucasArts scribe Tim Schafer at Costume Quest, Stacking, Once Upon a Monster and Iron Brigade developer Double Fine.

"I'm so excited," Gilbert wrote on his Grumpy Gamer website. "This is an idea that has been in my head for a long, long, long time.

"It predates Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. It's a game that needed to be made."

Gilbert published art for two of the playable characters, below. "That's all I can say right now, but more will follow later."

Gilbert created Deathspank for Hothead Games, but left before the game was released. A follow-up, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, was released last year.
