Rock Band Blitz release date announced

Summer holiday.

Rock Band Blitz will be available to download for Xbox 360 on 29th August, developer Harmonix has announced. It will cost 1200 Microsoft Points.

US PlayStation 3 gamers get the title on 28th August for $14.99 (about £9.60). Presumably that means the game will launch on 29th in Europe, in line with the EU PlayStation Store's usual Wednesday updates.

Crucially, Rock Band Blitz does not require an instrument-shaped controller to play.

The PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade title is backwards-compatible with exported tracks and DLC from past Rock Band games. You can even add Blitz's songs into Rock Band 3.

Blitz includes more than 20 tracks out of its digital box, including five that have just been announced: Avenged Sevenfold's "So Far Away", Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe's "We Are Young", Kool & The Gang's "Jungle Boogie" and My Chemical Romance's "Sing".
