Republique - Episode 2: Metamorphosis is out now

Adds new enemies, abilities and a 3D map.

Episodic mobile stealth series Republique has just launched its second episode, Metamorphosis, on the App Store.

The brainchild of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Halo 4 producer Ryan Payton, Republique is the story of a woman named Hope sabotaging an Orwellian overseer. Buying Episode 2 a la carte as an in-app purchase for Episode 1 will cost £2.99 / €4.49 / $4.99, or you can save a few quid and purchase the Season Pass for £10.49 / $14.99 that will grant access to every episode as well as an hour-long documentary and one hundred developer commentary clips.

New features in Episode 2 include foes that have randomised patrol routes and armour, an OMNI ability that lets you see through walls, and a 3D map - which has also been added to Episode 1.

Republique's remaining three episodes are expected to be released in three-to-four month intervals.

Our Dan Whitehead found Republique's opening episode to be a promising start. "It has a strong, interesting female lead, a story that is smart but also funny, and gameplay that takes full advantage of the iOS platform while still delivering the depth and variety you'd expect from a major console release," he wrote in his Republique review. "Fans of smart sci-fi and bold game design should jump aboard now."
