Play as a 2-year-old in first person horror Among the Sleep

Eccentric indie effort toddles towards PC and Mac.

Forthcoming indie horror game Among the Sleep is attempting to set itself apart from the competition by placing you in the shoes of a two-year-old.

The first person adventure, developed by Norwegian outfit Krillbite Studio, follows the infant protagonist as they wake one night to find all manner of creepy goings-on taking place in their home.

According to the game's official site, you'll jump out of your crib and crawl off into the dark to investigate.

"Being played in first person, the game let its players immerse themselves in a child's limitless imagination. This is a perspective we all have a distant familiarity with, but few can clearly remember what it felt like," reads the official blurb.

"In the borderland between dream and reality, surreal creatures and diverse environments will present you with both physical and mental obstacles that challenge your creativity."

The trailer below, spotted by Edge, offers an intriguing glimpse at what to expect.

It's been in development since early 2011, and has attracted 425,000 NOK (around £45,000) in funding from the Norwegian Film Institute.

The finished game is due out on PC and Mac some time in 2013.
