Microsoft has announced a deal that will bring Pathé films to Xbox Live Marketplace in the UK.

Pathé is responsible for local, arthouse and independent films, including the amazingly successful Slumdog Millionaire. The Blair Witch Project is another, as are Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and Memento.

The new films do not appear to be available yet, however.

Downloaded HD new releases costs 540 Microsoft Points (GBP 4.50), while SD versions cost 360 MSP (GBP 3). Older HD releases are priced at 380 MSP (GBP 3.20), and the SD copies at 250 MSP (GBP 2.10).

Films will stay on hard drives for 14 days after being downloaded, but once played will only be viewable for 24 hours.
