No Red Alert 3 PS3 this year

But it is still in development.

Electronic Arts has denied that Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 will be released for PlayStation 3 this year.

Earlier this week Red Alert producer David Silverman told VideoGamer that "there's definitely people working on a PS3 version".

But he also went on to add: "If you're a PS3 owner and you don't own a PC and you don't have an Xbox 360 you don't have to write on your Christmas or Hanukkah list that you want to have an Xbox." This led to speculation we'd be playing it this side of 2009.

However, an EA spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning: "There are no plans for a PS3 release of Red Alert 3 anytime before Christmas."

Silverman also said that the team was "putting in a lot of cool content and really taking advantage of both the 1080p nature and the high-defness of Blu-ray and also the fact that it can hold just so much more space".

EA wasn't able to comment on that at the time of writing, but we'll let you know.

The PS3 version of Red Alert 3 had been put on hold, you may remember, in order to focus on the PC and 360 versions, but it was never cancelled.

In the meantime, C&C Red Alert 3 is out now on PC (check out our Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 PC review for that), and the 360 version releases on 14th November.
