Ninja Theory pitched Enslaved movie

Hollywood: no thanks.

Ninja Theory pitched the idea of making a full CGI movie of its forthcoming action-adventure Enslaved: Odyssey to the West but Hollywood producers were unimpressed.

Ninja Theory's creative director Tameem Antoniades told Destructoid, "We were serious about it. We went to all the big studios in Hollywood and pitched the idea."

Apparently, studios couldn't grasp the concept of rendering the movie in real time.

"They have no idea of what real time means. They just care about how good it looks. Then, the fact that you say you can do this for cheap has no interest to studios whatsoever because they don't want to do it for cheap. They want Pixar and the other higher end [studios] to do it for $100 million or $60 million."

An Enslaved movie isn't quite as daft an idea as it might sound. Alex Garland, author of The Beach and 28 Days Later, penned the story and Andy Serkis – he of Golem fame – voices Monkey.

Not only that, but Eurogamer's Dan Pearson fell for its gorgeous visuals when he went hands-on in July.

Still, you'll just have to make do with the game, which arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 8th October.
