Half-Life 2 due out in September
Valve's Doug Lombardi reportedly indicates that HL2 will arrive around then, with the game set to "go gold" shortly and pack itself off to publisher Vivendi.
Valve Software's Director of Marketing Doug Lombardi has indicated that Half-Life 2 will hit store shelves in mid-to-late September, according to reports originating on a Half-Life fan site.
Earlier this week, Lombardi told Eurogamer, "we are planning to deliver a release candidate to Vivendi in August and we're hoping to see the product on store shelves this fall but we do not have a confirmed ship date at this time."
That was after MD Gabe Newell told one fan site last week, "At our current rate of find/fix bugs, we'll be down to zero bugs in 16 days." Barring some sort of last minute cock-up, then, Half-Life 2 should definitely be on its way to Vivendi next month, and could well wind up on store shelves almost exactly a year after its proposed release date of last September 30th.
Our money is now on September 24th. In fact, is anybody running odds on this stuff? There's some good money to be made there...
