Make your own WOW movie

And win all manner of prizes.

World of Warcraft developer Blizzard has teamed up with Xfire to launch what's being billed as "the world's largest ever machinima contest."

To enter, you'll need to create your own movie using the WOW game engine and editing tools. There are three competition categories: dance, comedy and drama. Special awards will also be handed out for the best music, dialogue, action scene, special effects and - our favourite - pun.

Prizes include all sorts of exciting techy stuff from the likes of AMD, Creative and D-Link, plus an Xbox 360. The closing date for entries is January 21st, and Blizzard and Xfire will announce the finalists on January 29th - then the WOW community will be invited to vote on the winners. Yes, it's just like X-Factor, only with more night elves and less silky-voiced binmen.

To find out how to enter, visit Xfire.com. It doesn't say so in the rules, but we'd imagine that any films starring a character called "Leeroy Jenkins" will be thrown in the bin.
