New Potter game announced

Barry and friends return for more wizardry on every current-gen console you've ever heard of.

Everyone's favourite bespectacled boy wizard is back, again, with a new outing on PS2, PSP, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, Nintendo DS and PC. (What no GM-219?)

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire sees our hero mysteriously chosen as the fourth entrant in the treacherous Triwizard Tournament. He must battle a fire-breathing dragon, navigate a vast and dangerous maze, duel to the death with Lord Voldemort and all that sort of thing. And someone dies in it.

Harry, Ron and Hermione are all playable characters, and up to three players can team up in co-operative mode to knock out extra powerful spells. Plus there's an all-new spell casting system which makes the controller "shake and react with every flick of the wand."

Electronic Arts is developing the game, astonishingly, and it'll be released in conjunction with the Warner Bros movie this November, which stars Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort, Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter and Jarvis Cocker as a member of rock band The Weird Sisters. An EA bigwig said the game features "fresh innovations" that have left him and his colleagues "incredibly excited".
