Aliens invade Anarchy Online

Funcom's fault!

Funcom yesterday announced expansion pack Anarchy Online - Alien Invasion, due out this summer, the next chapter in its MMORPG saga that aims to strengthen its science fiction leanings.

As you might have gathered from the title, the world of Rubi-Ka has suddenly been invaded by aliens wielding superior technology, and it's up to the simple townsfolk to rise up against their intergalactic usurpers, fighting their way to the very control rooms of the invading spaceships, and taking advantage of alien technology once captured.

Apart from the alien angle, the new expansion will also strengthen the social aspects of the game, allowing players to construct their own towns, set up their own individual shops, build organisational HQs, and even own new flying vehicles (social in the sense that everyone likes a flyby, I suppose).

The game will also introduce the requisite new weapons, armour items, clothes, quests and suchforth. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on the official Alien Invasion website for updates on what to expect.
