360's first download title

It's called Marble Blast Ultra.

Microsoft and GarageGames have announced the first download-only title for Xbox 360.

Marble Blast Ultra is the sequel to plain old Marble Blast, which was made available for download by current-gen Xbox users back in 2002. It's an arcade action game that sees you guiding marbles through a series of levels, avoiding obstacles and hazards and collecting power-ups along the way.

Bad news for those of you planning to purchase the "core system" - you'll need an Xbox 360 with a hard drive to download the game. Gamespot spoke to a GarageGames spokesman who said that technically speaking, Marble Blast Ultra would fit on a memory card - but only if the Xbox Live service supports memory card downloads.

A release date has yet to be announced, but it seems likely the game will launch around the same time as the Xbox 360 itself. There's no word on pricing, either - the previous game sold for $19.99, but Microsoft has offered no hints as to a price range for next-gen downloadable content.
