MS spends big on Christmas advertising

Floods media with festive message.

Microsoft has poured "the single largest investment to date" into a Christmas advertising campaign, hoping to grab the lion's share of Santa's sack.

Pricey promotions will span telly adverts, posters, magazines, radio and digital media, all primarily "aimed at reaching the casual and social segments", according to a statement. Microsoft believes it has "won the hearts and minds of core gamers" already, you see.

The telly adverts feature wide-eyed humans wearing expressions of utter lifestyle joy. They slowly rotate to reveal the back of their head missing, replaced instead by a scene from a piece of entertainment they're enjoying, such as a rock concert. Spooky but stylish.

You can see pictures of these adverts in our spooky but stylish Xbox adverts gallery.

We've not had time to do our own photo shoot for this one, sadly - but will certainly take some of the ideas on board.
