€200,000 goes to...

The €500,000 Make Arma Not War competition - designed to find the best Arma 3 mods around - has come to an end, and the winners have been announced.

Grand prize - a staggering €200,000 - goes to Total Modification RHS: Escalation. "Expand your Arma 3 experience with highly detailed and realistic Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and United States Armed Forces," reads its blurb. "This mod brings contemporary warfare between the world's superpowers to the next level."

It brings new vehicles, infantry and gear to the game, plus enhanced gameplay realism. RHS: Escalation, like the other mods, is free to download and play now.

The Single-player category (€50,000) was won by Resist - the one about a corporal Michael Coleridge and a small group of NATO survivors sticking it to The Man.

The Multiplayer category (€50,000) was won by King of the Hill, which is a team versus team objective based affair with persistent levelling and a monetary system.

The Addon category (€50,000) was won by Task Force Arrowhead Radio, which adds an in-game radio that integrates TeamSpeak, which is nifty.

You can check out the runners-up and find out more about the mods on the Make Arma Not War website.

Arma and its developer Bohemia have a long history of modding, way before that funny old Arma 2 zombie mod DayZ came on the scene. Stretches all the way back to Operation Flashpoint.

I hopped on a plane to visit Bohemia roughly this time last year. Did you read the studio's story? No? Well you should!
