Kratos confirmed for Mortal Kombat

PlayStation's God of War joins the fray.

A new Spike VGA trailer released for Mortal Kombat has confirmed God of War's Kratos as a playable fighter. Check it out below.

We knew this already, of course – the news was inadvertently leaked by the Official PlayStation Magazine last week.

Kratos will have his own fatalities, combat moves and God of War themed arena. Kratos won't, however, turn up in the game's story mode, but, let's be honest, who plays fighting games for the story?

Earlier last week sound files that act as introductions to unannounced characters were leaked from Mortal Kombat's official website, and appeared to confirm that Ermac, Goro, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Kabal, Smoke, Stryker, Sektor, Noob Saibot and Sindel are playable characters.

Announced characters include Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, Shao Kahn and Raiden. And now Kratos, of course.

The sound files also suggested Test Your Might and Brutalities – classic Mortal Kombat features – would return.

Mortaaaaaaal Kombaaaat!
