Ken Levine: BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Ep2 will be longer

UPDATE: Due 25th March, will expand original BioShock story.

UPDATE 13.01PM: BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Episode 2 will be available for on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 25, publisher 2K Games has announced.

The second slice will be longer than the first - as detailed below, earlier today - and will conclude the storylines of Burial at Sea Episode 1, the main BioShock Infinite game and include new insight on the original BioShock story.

"In Burial at Sea: Episode 2, we are delivering a story that involves nearly every major character from the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite," said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games. "It is a story that will give gamers a new perspective on the BioShock universe and conclude the story of BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea."

ORIGINAL STORY 08.35AM: BioShock Infinite creator Ken Levine has revealed that the upcoming second episode of Burial at Sea will be longer than the first.

Questioned via Twitter on Episode 2's length, Levine reported that a completionist should expect "five, maybe six hours" of content.

Burial at Sea Episode 1 clocked in at far less - you could speed through all of it in 90 minutes, and expect to see everything it had to offer with about an hour more.

Levine previously defended Episode 1's length to Eurogamer, and explained it as a choice of "quality over quantity".

"I think there are definitely people who are like 'Well, I want hours and hours of gamplay'," he said. "I think if that is your primary metric, this probably isn't the thing for you. If you want to feel like 'Wow, I just got a whole new experience' - that's what you get out of this."

Re-creating the original BioShock's underwater metropolis of Rapture within Infinite's engine proved a more time-consuming process than originally intended, Levine added, as well as fine-tuning the hybrid style of combat which mixes elements from both games.

There's no launch date yet for Episode 2, although Irrational released the first few minutes in video form last week. Watch it below, but beware spoilers for Episode 1.
