Jeri Ryan stars in Mortal Kombat: Legacy

Spawn actor also in new live action series.

A nine-part Mortal Kombat: Legacy live action video series begins next week, Warner Bros. has announced.

The first episode airs on YouTube channel Machinima this Tuesday, 12th April.

Sexy Star Trek Borg lady Jeri Ryan stars as fighter Sonya Blade. She'll be joined on-screen by Michael Jai White in the role of Jax Briggs. White was Spawn in the movie Spawn years and years ago. Muscular martial arts nut Darren Shahlavi (bit parts in 300, Watchmen) will play Kano.

Kevin Tancharoen will write and direct the project, backed by Warner's big-screen clout.

"We worked very closely with NetherRealm Studios and Ed Boon, and we're now putting the finishing touches on the episodes," commented Tancharoen. " I'm confident we've stayed true to the Mortal Kombat lore and am hoping the fans will be blown away by what they see."

Mortal Kombat, the new game, launches at the end of the month.
