More than two million people want in on the Call of Duty: Elite beta, Activision has revealed.
That many people registered their interest in under two weeks.
Activision's social media "guy" Dan Amrich revealed the number on his blog. "It blew my mind," he said.
The Call of Duty: Elite beta starts on 14th July.
"And don't be discouraged by the big number," added Amrich, "thinking you shouldn't bother because they already have enough people - two million volunteers among 30 million Call of Duty players is a small amount. More would be even better."
Elite represents a vast community expansion to Call of Duty multiplayer, encompassing videos, social networking and stat-tracking. Developer Beachhead has spent two years working on it.
The most controversial part is an optional premium subscription, although there are considerable features given for free.
Elite will be applied to Call of Duty: Black Ops as well as all future Call of Duty games.
