Halo 2: Anniversary arrives on Steam and Xbox Game Pass for PC next week

Supports 4K, 60fps+, ultra-wide monitors, and more.

Halo 2: Anniversary, the shiny remaster of Bungie's seminal Xbox shooter sequel, is, at long last, coming to Steam, the Microsoft Store, and Xbox Game Pass for PC next Tuesday, 12th May, as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The Master Chief Collection, you may recall, initially arrived PC last December. However, unlike the original 2014 Xbox One version - which featured every major series entry released to date - only Halo: Reach was included at launch.

That lonely number became two in March, when Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was added to The Master Chief Collection's PC release, and its expansion into a three-game bundle next week means that we're at the half-way point, with Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 still needed before everything is present and correct.

Halo 2: Anniversary's solo campaign and multiplayer modes can be played using either Anniversary's fancied-up visuals or those from the original Halo 2 (switchable at any time), and as with other games in the Master Chief Collection on PC, there's support for 4k UHD, 60+ FPS, and ultra-wide monitors, plus customisable mouse and keyboard, and adjustable FOV.

Those Halo fans wanting to go all-in on PC can either play the Halo: Master Chief Collection through Xbox Game Pass on PC or can purchase it for £29.99/$39.99 USD on Steam and the Microsoft Store. Halo 2: Anniversary will likely also be available to purchase separately if it follows the pattern established by Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, which both featured a standalone price of £6.99/$9.99 USD.

Microsoft previously announced that Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 would complete the Master Chief Collection on PC before the end of the year.
