Get ArmA 3 devs home: Bohemia Interactive wants your help

Hopes ArmA, DayZ fans will answer the call.

ArmA 3 developer Bohemia Interactive has asked for your help freeing two members of staff arrested on espionage charges for allegedly photographing Greek military installations.

Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar have been held by Greek authorities since 9th September. They were accused of spying. If convicted, both could face up to 20 years in jail.

The duo's work on military shooter ArmA 3 features the Greek location where they were arrested. But Bohemia has argued that they were simply on holiday.

The developer contacted Eurogamer and other press this morning to highlight a community-created petition, which calls for Bucta and Pezlar's release.

"We've been gratified at the interest you have shown in our games and especially the attention garnered by the recent DayZ phenomenon," Bohemia spokesman Ota Vrtatko wrote.

"What I would like to do is to make you aware, if you're not already, of a community created support website for Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar - HelpIvanMartin.org The website contains information about their arrest, links to news reports and an on-going petition to raise voices in protest at the arrest and charges."

As of writing, nearly 2300 people have signed.

"The conditions are tough, but the people we meet treat us fairly and correctly," Buchta and Pezlar said in a joint statement released yesterday. "It is all a completely absurd misunderstanding that will certainly be quickly explained."
