Eurogamer noticed an increased number of readers to a four-year-old news story today. The article was about a Capcom PR stunt promoting Resident Evil by setting up a fake butcher shop with graphic sculptures of supposedly human meat. Now, nearly four years later, it looks like those images have sparked a rumour so widespread that the Chinese government had to issue a statement.

A third CGI Resident Evil film has been announced. This one's called Resident Evil: Vendetta.

Animation studio Marza Animation Planet (Harlock: Space Pirate) revealed the upcoming film, which is due in 2017.

The follow-up to Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) and Resident Evil: Damnation (2012), Vendetta will star series stalwart Leon S. Kennedy.

Capcom is preparing to slash its European operation by more than half, according to the UK trade magazine MCV. "More than half of the European arm faces redundancy, with a number of jobs set to merge," reads the report.

The PC version of Resident Evil 6 will feature the exclusive The Mercenaries: No Mercy mode, an extra challenging rendition of the classic time-attack mode that pits you against endless waves of enemies.

"More enemies on screen than ever before will provide a greater challenge, but also the opportunity for players to use their skills to rack up even higher combo scores," wrote Capcom Europe in the announcement.

The PC release will contain all of the console versions' post-launch updates, so you can play the Ada campaign from the get go and tackle it with a partner if you like. You'll also have the ability to fine tune the in-game camera.

Capcom to tweak Resident Evil 6 again via upcoming patch

Resident Evil 6 publisher Capcom has announced a second title update to the game. The patch will add a number of new features, and comes just one month after the first.

Players will now be able to select individual levels within the game's lengthy chapters to re-play, Capcom Unity announced, solving a real bugbear among some fans.

You'll also see a new range of settings available before each session begins, allowing you to choose options such as Friendly Fire and Infinite Ammo, or limit the region of other players.

Capcom delays Monster Hunter 4, says Resident Evil 6 sales

Bad news from Capcom this morning: it's delayed one of its key titles and said Resident Evil 6 won't meet sales expectations.

The delayed game is Monster Hunter 4, the Nintendo 3DS exclusive sure to set tills alight in Japan. It had been due out there in March 2013. It will now release at some point after that “in order to further raise the quality of this game”, Capcom said.

As for Resident Evil 6, Capcom said this morning it is unlikely to sell as many copies as the Japanese publisher had hoped.

Resident Evil 6 launches on PC March 2013, Capcom has announced.

In the US it's a download only release. In Europe it's a download and a disc based game. In both territories it'll be available on Friday 22nd March 2013.

Resident Evil 6 on PC includes all the content in the console release plus all the title updates, so Ada Wong's campaign and the No Hope difficulty mode will be available to play from the off.

Xbox 360 timed-exclusive Resident Evil 6 modes go on sale 18th December

Three new Resident Evil 6 multiplayer modes arrive for Xbox 360 players on 18th December, publisher Capcom has announced.

The DLC adds new offerings Predator, Survivors and Onslaught. And, as previously announced, they will initially only be available to Xbox 360 players.

Each mode can be purchased separately for 320 Microsoft Points, or there's a bundle of the three together for 720 Microsoft points.

Capcom is to release a free update for Resident Evil 6 in mid-December that will address several points of player feedback.

The patch will include new camera controls to allow players a greater field of view. The viewpoint is currently locked close behind characters, allowing enemies to sneak up unawares. Screenshots of the changes lie below.

Following the update, the game's fourth campaign will now be unlocked from the start. The secret story mode stars Resident Evil femme fetale Ada Wong and is currently only available to those who have completed the other three lengthy story modes.

Capcom horror Resident Evil 6 has captured a huge opening week of more than 675,000 sales in Japan.

634,000 copies were sold on PlayStation 3, with another 41,000 netted on Xbox 360 according to Japanese numbers company Media Create (via NeoGAF).

In the hardware chart, PlayStation Vita (fourth this week, again behind the PSP) coughed and wheezed over the one million sales milestone. It did so with its lowest sales in months - just 7957 units.

Resident Evil 6 will feature a secret campaign starring crossbow-toting antihero Ada Wong, publisher Capcom has finally confirmed.

The long-rumoured addition during was unveiled during latest round of previews for the game, alongside the Dark Souls-inspired Agent Hunter mode.

Wong's campaign will be unlocked after the main game is completed and, unlike the core Leon, Chris and Jake offerings, will see the enigmatic character acting alone.

Capcom's upcoming survival horror is the latest title to allow its DLC to launch first on Xbox 360, following Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Tomb Raider.

Resident Evil 6 is having its release date brought forward to early October, with a demo of the latest in the survival horror series coming early this summer.

Originally slated for worldwide release on November 20 this year, it's now due out on October 2.

Capcom has teased new details on its upcoming horror shooter Resident Evil 6, following its explosive reveal in last month's trailer.

The trailer raised a number of questions, namely the identity of the game's grumpy third protagonist, who was seen engaging zombies and mutants in bare-knuckle fighting.

"We're still trying to track down his real identity," Capcom wrote of the mysterious third character, playable alongside Resident Evil regulars Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy. "But we do know this man is a mercenary."

Resident Evil 6 launches on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 20th November 2012, with a PC version to follow later, publisher Capcom has announced.

Set 10 years after the initial Raccoon City outbreak, the game sees series regulars Leon S Kennedy and Chris Redfield dealing with zombie outbreaks across the globe.

As seen in the reveal trailer below, Kennedy is fighting off the undead in a small town in the US after the president gets infected, while Redfield is in an unnamed Chinese metropolis dealing with a bioterrorist threat there.
