Resident Evil 6 PC launches March 2013 with Steam functionality

Second title update revealed, adds Agent Hunt and stage selection.

Resident Evil 6 launches on PC March 2013, Capcom has announced.

In the US it's a download only release. In Europe it's a download and a disc based game. In both territories it'll be available on Friday 22nd March 2013.

Resident Evil 6 on PC includes all the content in the console release plus all the title updates, so Ada Wong's campaign and the No Hope difficulty mode will be available to play from the off.

The digital version has Steam functionality. That means it has cloud saving, Steam Achievements, friends support, the Steam game overlay and leaderboards.

The minimum and recommended specs are below:

Minimum specs:

  • OS: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.
  • Processor: Intel CoreTM2 Duo 2.4 Ghz or better, AMD AthlonTM X2 2.8 Ghz or better.
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM.
  • Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free hard drive space.
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS or better.
  • DirectX: 9.0c or greater.
  • Sound: Standard audio device.

Recommended specs:

  • OS: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.
  • Processor: Intel CoreTM 2 Quad 2.7 Ghz or better, AMD PhenomTM II X4 3 Ghz or better.
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM.
  • Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free hard drive space.
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or better.
  • DirectX: 9.0c or greater.
  • Sound: Standard audio device.

Capcom recommends PCs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce graphics processors “to deliver the best experience when playing Resident Evil 6 PC”.

The first in-game assets from the PC version will be released early next year.

Meanwhile, Capcom announced a second free update for Resident Evil 6 will be available on 22nd January 2013. The first released today.

The second update includes the following:

  • Agent Hunt Mode: Available without having to complete a campaign; Selectable criteria for joining a session: Stage selection; Region selection; Players can determine whether to join a session based on campaign player's settings such as infinite ammo or friendly fire setting.
  • Stage selection.
  • Individual stages within chapters can be accessed at any time once completed.
  • QTE assist: QTE assist is currently part of the Amateur difficulty level, and automatically completes QTEs for the player. With this update, players can optionally activate QTE assist on any difficulty level.
  • Adjustments: Some sections of the game have had their difficulty adjusted to provide an improved experience

And finally, Capcom announced Resident Evil 6 on Xbox 360 will be available to download as a Games On Demand title this Christmas.
