Xbox 360 Elite sales up by 43 per cent

Price cut provides a bank holiday boost.

Sales of the Xbox 360 Elite rose 43 per cent during the bank holiday weekend in the UK.

Microsoft cut the price of the upper-tier bundle to £199.99 (a saving of £50) last Friday, ahead of the PS3 Slim launch today - a coincidental occurrence, MS assured us.

"Sales of Xbox 360 are up 43 per cent," data detective GfK Chart-Track told GamesIndustry.biz. "Essentially, looking at the price, obviously it's the Elite that's done the business with those sales."

Gfk Chart-Track noted this as a "good start" for Microsoft ahead of the upcoming console battle. "It's quite a big deal for Sony next week," added the spokesperson.
