Defiance now free-to-play on Xbox 360

But will it launch for PS4 and Xbox One?

Massively-multiplayer shooter Defiance is now available as a free-to-play experience on Xbox 360.

The game, which ties in to the Syfy television series of the same name, originally launched in April 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

It then went free-to-play on PC in June this year, and became available for free on PlayStation 3 shortly after.

All existing owners of the game have been gifted extra character slots and loadouts, currency capacity and inventory size to make up for the changes, Trion has announced in a new blog post.

Instead of being a full-priced release, Defiance now lets you play through the game's main campaign for free, with the option to buy extra content in £7.99 packs or a £26.99 season pass.

There's no word yet on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of the game.

The TV show, meanwhile, has just been renewed for a third season of 13 episodes to air in 2015.
