BioShock Infinite prequel e-book announced for Amazon Kindle

£1.85 or free if you pre-order game from Amazon.

Irrational Games' skyborne shooter BioShock Infinite is to have an e-book prequel released on Amazon Kindle next month.

BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt will be out 12th February priced £1.85/$2.99. It's free if you pre-order the BioShock Infinite game from Amazon.

The novella is penned by Irrational Games' writer Joe Fielder, aided by BioShock boss Ken Levine and relates events in the war-torn airborne city of Columbia before the arrival of Infinite star Booker DeWitt.

"Since we first announced BioShock Infinite, our fans have asked for more information about Columbia and the complex cast of characters that inhabit the floating city," Fielder said.

"After reading the e-book, players will have a better understanding of BioShock Infinite's world, the struggle between its factions, and the motivations of key characters, like rebel leader Daisy Fitzroy, without spoiling the mysteries of BioShock Infinite."

Eurogamer's Jeffrey Matulef got his hands on the game last month. "It holds onto the series' less flattering traditions like an old pair of underwear, and the new stuff is introduced at a glacial pace," he wrote, "but its story, characters, and especially the setting, are a bold step forward for both Irrational and triple-A shooters on the whole."
