Best-selling game of 2007 revealed

COD4 wins the whole wide world.

New data has revealed that Call of Duty 4 was the best-selling game worldwide during 2007.

The data was provided by research groups NPD, Chart-Track and GfK. They reckon more than 7 million copies of COD4 have been sold since the game was released in November.

Activision exec Will Kassoy said the company is "very excited" about how many games it's sold, adding, "Consumer and critics agree that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the best games ever... This ground-breaking game and franchise continue to establish new standards by which all other action games will be judged."

Which would suggest the franchise will continue. Which is not remotely surprising when you consider they've just sold 7 million games. Or that word of COD5 appeared on Activision's website last month. Here's hoping we won't have too long to wait.
