Tweets from DICE suggest the much-anticipated Battlefield 3 beta will launch this week.

Users on Battlefieldo spotted a new domain, http://bf3beta.battlefield.com, for beta code redemption. Screenshots were taken before the website was taken offline.

Battlefieldo also spotted a page where managers at shop GameStop could gain early access to the beta. This has also been taken offline.

Battlefieldo also points out that DICE developers have Tweeted to say this week will be particularly exciting. Yesterday Global Battlefield Community Manager at DICE Daniel Matros Tweeted: "This week is going to be off the hook #BF3"

When quizzed on the Battlefield 3 beta by Eurogamer, DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson said it'll launch "hopefully very, very soon".

"There's a couple of last things that we need to sort out before we can announced the actual date, but it's going to happen in September, so stay tuned. We don't have the official date yet but we are equally eager to get it out there as well."

He confirmed the "ambition" is to launch the Battlefield 3 beta simultaneously across the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

"It's going to be multiplayer," he continued, "but I don't believe we've said exactly what it will be, and I'll save that for the real announcement coming out. But it's going to be multiplayer."
