Assassins' Creed 3 is Ubisoft's most pre-ordered game ever

190 GAME stores to open for midnight launch.

Assassin's Creed 3 is the most pre-ordered Ubisoft game of all time, according to Ubisoft.

Apparently US shop giant GameStop received double the amount of pre-orders for AC3 than it did for AC: Revelations, Ubisoft said.

Back in the UK, GAME said 190 stores will host midnight launches for AC3. Doors open midnight on Tuesday next week in time for Assassin's Creed 3's 31st October launch.

GAME's flagship Stratford store (ever since its Oxford Street outlet shut down) will lead the charge. Its insides will be decorated to look like the wintry American frontier.

Assassin's Creed 3 relocates the series to a new time period, setting and main character, as players explore Revolutionary America with half-Native American hero Connor.

"The story of Assassin's Creed has always been about history mixing with the present," the handsomely bearded Tom Phillips wrote in Eurogamer's Assassin's Creed 3 preview. "It's also true of the many finely-tuned components in Assassin's Creed 3. The game distils the best of the series so far, smiles knowingly at those who've stuck by it from the beginning, and aptly serves as a fresh place to look and wonder."
