Assassin's Creed's comics just delivered a moment fans have waited nearly a decade for

Juno what we're talking about.

The Assassin's Creed comic series has just reached a moment in the franchise's overall story which fans have long awaited - a point the series' plot arc has been building to for nearly a decade.

(If you're not up to date on the Assassin's Creed games up to Syndicate, beware spoilers below.)

Back in 2016, Ubisoft and Titan Comics revealed that the First Civilisation plotline which featured in multiple Assassin's Creed games would instead "culminate" in a new series of graphic novels.

Over the past 18 months, the Assassin's Creed Uprising series has done just that, and charted the impending return of Juno - the franchise's overall Big Bad.

Now the latest and penultimate issue, Uprising #11, has finally shown just that - Juno is back and in physical form, in a newly-grown body. Here's a look at her, as posted to the official Assassin's Creed reddit.

The tank-grown body of Juno.

The story of the mysterious First Civilisation is one which has been building since the first Assassin's Creed game - but which really took shape in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood when Juno herself made her debut. Since then, every annual Assassin's Creed game featured the Juno plotline to a greater or lesser degree.

It was Juno who made Desmond stab Lucy in AC2 and influenced Desmond to sacrifice himself throughout AC Revelations and AC3. Juno's desire to return to life really kicked into gear in AC4: Black Flag, which featured a plan devised by Juno's husband in both its modern day and historical sections. The events of AC: Syndicate then involved the search for the Shroud of Eden - a macguffin which could restore her body.

The comics continued by introducing a new cast of characters involved in the process of restoring her body on the evil Templar side of things, and those fighting to stop her return - the Assassins.

Uprising #12 is set to be the final chapter in the story, due next month. After nearly a decade, fans will finally see if Juno's plan succeeds - or if the Assassins can finally stop her in her evil tracks.
