Fallout 76 will get player vending, Bethesda has confirmed.

The much-requested feature is coming to the multiplayer game as part of a future update, Bethesda said in an update blog post.

Player vending is something Fallout 76 players have called for since the game's launch last year. We don't have any information on how it works, but players are already excitedly speculating at the prospect of setting up shop in post-apocalyptic West Virginia. And there are many questions: will you be able to set the price of items, or will there be a global price list? Will you sell from your camp, or will you sell from a vending machine? If you sell from your camp, will you be able to mark yourself as a vendor on the map?

One of the issues with Fallout 76 is it doesn't do much to facilitate role-playing, so players are having to find the fun in other ways. As I mentioned in our Fallout 76 review, one of the things I would love to do in the game is open a shop, selling exotic items to other players in a desperate bid to raise enough caps to survive the harsh wasteland. Perhaps player vending will scratch that itch.

Elsewhere in the blog post, Bethesda reiterated future updates it's already announced, including new quests, weekly in-game events, new Vaults opening and a new PvP mode.

2019 is a crucial year for Fallout 76 as Bethesda looks to rebuild the game after its disastrous launch. A big update is planned for later in January "that will address many of the issues you've been providing feedback on", Bethesda said. Expect patch notes soon.
