Microsoft officially released DirectX 7.0 last night. The new version adds support for hardware T&L acceleration, environment mapping, improved 3D sound support, and the proverbial much more.

If you don't have or don't trust the Windows Update feature, you can grab yourself a copy of DX7.0 the old fashioned way from this page on Microsoft's website.
