Animal Crossing and Mario Maker Amiibo spotted

Just for AC: Happy Home Designer, or something more?

Nintendo has accidentally leaked what looks like another E3 announcement - a new range of Amiibo toys for Animal Crossing, and one for platformer-building sandbox Mario Maker.

The image below is currently viewable on Nintendo of Europe's own official site.

We've known about card-based Amiibo for Animal Crossing for some time. Indeed, the upcoming 3DS spin-off Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is based around them.

But these are actual physical Amiibo statues, and for main characters Tom Nook, Isabelle, KK Slider and Mable rather than villagers themselves.

It begs the question whether these are designed to work with Happy Home Designer too, or whether Nintendo has a Wii U Animal Crossing in the works. This week's E3 conference should give us confirmation either way.

Nintendo has also not officially announced Amiibo support for Mario Maker. Again, we shouldn't have long to wait to find out how the NFC toy will be worked into the game.
