Activision acquires NASCAR IP - report

Oh wheelie?

Activision may be poised to reveal its true colours as the new owner of the NASCAR brand.

VG247 heard from sources that an announcement will be made "soon".

A cached website for NASCAR 2011 was spotted online earlier this week. It showed logos for the game, platforms (PS3, Wii and Xbox 360), Eutechnyx and Activision.

EA had held the NASCAR licence, but admitted last year that the series had been put on hold, and staff redeployed on MMA. "We had a great relationship over the years that I thoroughly enjoyed when I first got here," said Peter Moore at the time. "Unfortunately... we had to make some tough trade-offs."

So far Activision and Eutechnyx have offered no comment.
