Nintendo of America has sold 65.3 million Wii remotes in the US since the Wii console launched in November 2006, and 52.9 million nunchuks.
According to the American arm of the platform holder, quoting NPD Group data up to the end of September this year, 30.41m of those remotes were sold with Wii hardware and 12.92m were sold with Wii Play.
Of the remaining millions that were sold separately, 18.56m were white remotes, 2.44m were black, 467,500 were pink and 465,200 were blue.
Nintendo was hyping up the classic remote ahead of its retirement next month, when it makes way for Wii Remote Plus, the version that has Wii MotionPlus built in.
Wii Remote Plus is due out on 5th November in Europe in the four aforementioned colours.
