Gran Turismo 5 dated for Europe

Just one day after North America.

Sony has revealed that epic racer Gran Turismo 5 will be released on 3rd November in Europe.

The announcement was made at the company's press conference ahead of this week's Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany.

Kazunori Yamauchi's labour of love will arrive on these shores just one day after GT5 sees the light of day in North America: the 2nd November US launch was announced at E3.

It's really happening. Isn't it?

Wasnt too bothered by this game (really didnt like Prologue) but from the videos i have seen (night racing, top gear test track), it does look amazing. With GT5 and F1, that should be enough car fix for me this year.

To be fair, anyone that orders this online from the right retailer will get it at least a day early. Shopto.net have always delivered a day before release. Sometimes even two. GAME aren't bad with early deliveries either.

great news, the game will be awesome.

I'll believe it when it's on the shelves.

Loving all the negs, by the way. Nice to see some good old fashioned over-reaction.

Sony really are sorting out their act when it comes to release dates these days. Not such massive gaps between euro and north america.

    Yawn @ yawn comments...

Good stuff, and with the 320GB PS3 on the way, a good time to finally join into the Sony club.
  • wizlon #9 2 years ago

I wasn't going to get this.... but I am, aren't I? Damn you Sony!!
  • suhawk75 #10 2 years ago

    @ wizlon

that's exactly what I was thinking.

"Oh I'll not bother with GT this time, I've got Forza 3 and a pile of other games to play"

Then come Nov 3rd I'll be home with the GT box before I realise! :)
  • NewbieZilla #11 2 years ago

Are you sure when they said November 3rd, they didn't mean 2020?
  • Emmit_Assassin #12 2 years ago

I'm gonna buy it. But I don't have a PS3 yet. I'm just going to buy it. And look at it. Then, in 30 or so years time I'm going to invent a time machine and take it back to 2006 when it should have been out and play it then. Maybe then I'll be able to move on with my life and get over the pain of waiting....
The pain, oh the pain....why won't they make it stop?.......

Nice, day one purchase for me.
  • barnettbeans #15 2 years ago

GT5 ? Never heard of it, what's it about?
  • jn2002dk #16 2 years ago

Great news, i'm sure it will be just as fantastic as previous installments

@ the xbots posting the same old tired jokes about delays, what sad little creatures you really are
  • Iain815 #17 2 years ago

It's hardly our fault it's easy the take the piss out of, after it was delayed, then again and again.

I'm sure it'll be lovely. But if it's not, there will be even more shits and giggles.

you would expect the ps3 crowd would laugh along with the jokes on gt5. its hard to believe its coming out :p. cant wait to pick this up.
  • MasterNameless #19 2 years ago

I love my PS3 (although I have an Xbox too), but have lost all my excitement for this game over the years of waiting. There has been 2 Forza's in the same time, so it had better be pretty damn amazing by now!

I don;t think it's really fair to blame 'xbots' for the yawn comments, Polyphony deserve every single yawn comment out there if you ask me. Although anyone who uses the word xbot is obviously totally biased in the other direction anyway so I don't even know why I'm bothering to question their logic. Brandloyaltylol

    ANOTHER release date?

I think it's only fair that we consumers delay our purchase by the same amount of time as this game has been delayed. Give them a taste of their own medicine and all that.

    Aw, who am I kidding?

    ''It's really happening. Isn't it?''

    Yes, yes it is.
  • Antaios #22 2 years ago

Long overdue, but looking forward to it. Pre-ordered already.
  • Darren #23 2 years ago

I'll end up buying GT5, I know it, but at the moment I can't say I'm especially excited about playing it. I found GT5 Prologue a huge disappointment personally even bearing in mind it was little more than a demo. It had the same soulless feel to the racing as the earlier games so I hope the proper sequel has more personality and excitement. /crosses fingers
  • Zebula77 #24 2 years ago

Sweet. Finally being released. Won't get any of the special editions, tho. Game-only will be fine by me.
  • NotSoSlim #25 2 years ago

5 years is a long time but the game has only had one release date. Good thing like most of Sonys first party devs is the engine was done from scratch so even if PS3 doesn't see another GT the PS4 will and probably early in cycle as well.

While Forza was great it had no night racing and no weather which is 2 features it could of easily implemented imo, no doubt Forza 4 will have them.

With F1 and GT5, PS3 owners have all the racing they need :o)
  • jefranklin18 #26 2 years ago

Ok, shall we run a sweepstake for what score EG will give it? I call an 8 :)
  • KreyAtiv #27 2 years ago

Any word on whether or not they'll be dishing up a demo for it?
  • superdelphinus #28 2 years ago

anything less than 10/10 will cause eurogamer to break for about 3 days probably

    "The reason I got a PS3.......and it's only 5 years late!"

The PS3 only came out (in the UK) in the March/April 2007, so 3.5 yrs late come this november.
The only reason I remember this date was because I was put onto "Garden leave" with nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs - then the PS3 got released :-)
  • Mydoom #30 2 years ago

thats the same day. well it is for us kiwi's and aussie there not geting a headstart .:)
  • aphexstwin #31 2 years ago

solid date is solid news. roll on november! would've been nice to have tdu2 to fill the time, especially if its steering wheel compatible, not just an afterthought like tdu1 on 360. but alas, its not gunna get a look in now!
