Switch is getting its fourth Picross S game next week

Includes a total of 485 puzzles.

Fans of numbers, squares, and pictures magically arising from the canny application of those numbers and squares, should prepare to cheer; the fourth instalment in developer Jupiter's hugely entertaining Picross S puzzle series is heading to Switch next Thursday, 23rd April.

Picross, if you're unfamiliar, is a classic form of logic puzzle (frequently referred to as nonograms), in which players attempt to determine where to place squares on a grid by cross-referencing number sequences found on each row and column. If completed correctly, those squares will ultimately form a simple image.

Nintendo has been publishing Jupiter-developed Picross games on its consoles since 1995, and its Picross S series has delivered a slick, no-nonsense continuation on Switch.

Picross S4 will feature a total of 485 puzzles which, according Jupiter, is the highest number to be included in a Picross S game so far. 300 of these are a combination of standard Picross and Mega Picross puzzles, 30 are Colour Picross puzzles, and there are 150 piece puzzles in Clip Picross mode - which tasks players with solving smaller puzzles to complete a larger image.

Picross S4 also promises several quality of life improvements and five bonus Extra puzzles, consisting of 30x30 grids and up; three of these can only be accessed by linking the play data from Picross S, Picross S2, or Picross S3.

Picross S4 will cost £8.99/€9.99/$9.99 USD when it comes to Switch's eShop on 23rd April.
