Street Fighter 5's story mode lets you play as all six DLC characters

Juri's out.

Street Fighter 5's new story mode, due out at the end of June as part of a free update, lets you play as all six DLC characters, Capcom has said.

Fair few familiar faces there.

Two of these are available now: Alex and Guile. So, Ibuki, Balrog, Urien and Juri will also be playable.

The official release of Balrog, Urien and Juri won't be until later this year, so everyone will get to play them in advance in story mode.

Capcom warned that Balrog, Urien and Juri won't be tournament ready at this point. "So, think of this as a free preview of the characters and enjoy playing with them before they get officially released in the other competitive game modes," the publisher said in a post on Capcom Unity.

Capcom said the story mode, called A Shadow Falls, is a three to four hour experience made up of five chapters that take place between Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 3. Here's the official blurb:

Meanwhile, Capcom said you can earn Fight Money (the in-game currency used to unlock things such as characters, stages and alternative costumes) from completing the story mode. A higher difficulty is unlocked after clearing it on normal.

Talking of in-game currency, Capcom announced it has ditched plans to introduce Zenny to Street Fighter 5 as a real money currency option. Here's the explanation:

The in-game story will be upgraded with the PlayStation Store and Steam real money purchase options as part of the update in late June, Capcom said. Then, the free trial period for Alex and Guile will end.

One feature that appears to have suffered is the Daily Challenges. These are being "re-tooled and optimised", Capcom said, and won't make it out this month.

The feature will now be called Targets, although they will still be daily goals for players to complete and generate Fight Money.

New single-player modes such as Extra Battle and Versus CPU are also in the works, apparently.

And last but not least, the premium Battle Costumes for every character released so far go on sale this month, and will be available for purchase with real currency only. Now everyone will have access to Hot Ryu.
