Sonic Generations Xbox 360 demo is 3D

Sonic does a Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The Sonic Generations demo launched today on Xbox Live displays in stereoscopic 3D.

When enabled, the game splits the screen in half, forcing a 3DTV settings change to "side-by-side" mode as Call of Duty: Black Ops and other 3D-enabled Xbox 360 games do.

This side-by-side 3D, or two images in one that are then rescaled, is not the full stereoscopic 3D the PlayStation 3 is capable of.

The PS3 version of the demo displays in full stereoscopic 3D.

The options on the Xbox 360 version demo title screen are: Game Start and 3D Mode Options.

The second menu states: "Enable Stereoscopic 3D Mode", then a 3D scale bar to adjust the depth appears.

The 20-day single level demo is a side-scrolling re-imagining of Greenhill Zone from Sonic 1 with the same music.

We can now expect the final Xbox 360 game, set for launch in November, to support 3D.
