Prince of Persia Classic has launched on Xbox Live Arcade as promised. You can read a review of it elsewhere on the site today.

It's a remake of the 1980s platform classic, which applies 3D graphics to the traditional 2D setting, and sees players racing to save the princess from the evil Jaffar's clutches.

Our reviewer, Rich Leadbetter, suggests you think of the retooled mechanics in terms of free running - a concept best exemplified in the opening chase sequence of the most recent James Bond film, Casino Royale.

As well as the original mode, which gives you an hour (with checkpoints, and not including time spent on the pause screen) to rescue the princess, the Xbox Live Arcade version offers Time Attack and Survival modes.

Naturally there's a demo to try out (weighing in at about 50MB), while the full version will set you back 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30) if you fancy a stab at it.
