New Prince of Persia game coming

To PS3 and Xbox 360 this time.

Ubisoft has announced a new Prince of Persia game is on the way.

Apparently it's in development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. There's no word on a title as yet. However, Ubisoft has said the game is "scheduled to release towards the end of 2008".

The publisher also confirmed it's in development at Ubisoft Montreal and is being worked on by the same team who produced the Sands of Time trilogy.

According to the press release the new game "is opening a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe" and will feature "a new breed of gameplay". You can expect a new "illustrative art style", and Ubi is promising to "rejuvenate" the action adventure genre.

There's a separate PoP game on the way for Nintendo DS, too, complete with a brand new storyline and characters.

Expect more on the new games, and endless hilarious references to MC Hammer pants, soon.
